1. Create the agent
Signing up walks you through a short setup and creates your first agent at the end of it. If the setup cannot scan your website, it tells you why. Change the address and scan again, or continue without the website and add your knowledge once the agent exists. If you already have one agent and want another, use Create an AI agent: a name, a role, and optionally your website address. After setup saves your first draft agent, choose a plan with monthly or yearly billing, or select Continue on Free. If your workspace is eligible, you can start a seven-day trial of Hobby, Standard or Pro. Each plan lists what it adds to the plan below it, and yearly billing costs 20% less. Trials require a payment method and renew automatically at the displayed price unless you cancel before the trial ends. Canceling checkout returns you to the plan picker; your draft agent stays saved. See Plans and billing for trial and cancellation details. Every self-service plan includes one agent. Free includes 1 MB of training content and 50 message credits each month. An Owner can add agent capacity to a paid plan under Workspace settings → Plans.2. Tell it who it is
Open Agent → Instructions. The role you chose filled in something generic. Replace the text under General with a few sentences about your business: what you sell, who writes in, and what to do when it does not know an answer. Choose Expand beside the heading if you need more writing space. Your edits save to your draft as you type, and customers see them once you publish. Two minutes here saves a lot of confusion later. The agent has no other way of knowing you are a bakery rather than a bank.3. Give it something to answer from
Open Knowledge base → Data sources. The overview shows your active sources, training status and knowledge storage. The import options below it let you add a website, files, text, Q&A, pages from a connected Notion workspace, or connected support tickets. If you entered a website during setup, it is already listed and importing in the background: Queued, then a progress bar. You can leave the page while it finishes. One source imports at most 50 pages, so a larger selection from setup is listed as several sources, such ashttps://example.com (part 1 of 3), each importing on its own.
Otherwise add one now. Add website for your help pages or FAQ, then pick
which of the pages found you actually want. Fifty per source, so start with the
section customers ask about.
While that runs, add one Q&A entry for the question your team answers most.
Write the answer exactly as you want it repeated, and add two or three ways
customers phrase the question.
Full detail in Adding knowledge.
4. Check training
Sources train automatically after they finish importing or you save an edit. Check the training status on Data sources before testing the answers. You can leave the page while work runs in the background. If an import fails, open the source to review its error and retry. If your instructions still match the original role template, a website import may have added brief guidance about the business and its communication style. Those instructions apply immediately. The imported pages and the Q&A entry become searchable once their automatic training run finishes.5. Try it
Open the Playground and ask the three questions your team answers most. Then ask something it should not know, and check it says so rather than inventing an answer. If it invents one, the usual cause is a page in your knowledge that half-covers the topic. Playground messages use your workspace’s message credits at the selected model’s rate. Configured actions do not run there.6. Put it on your site
Open Channels → Install → Website widget and copy the widget snippet. The Playground has the same Install shortcut:</body> tag, and
deploy the site. Copy it from the Install sheet rather than from here, so the
agent ID is yours.
Open your site in a private window and ask it something real.
See Installing the chat on your website for the inline
version, and for locking the widget to your own domains.
