# Members and roles

> Invite your team, choose permissions, and transfer primary ownership

Open **Workspace settings → Members** to search your team, view invitations,
and see each member's role. Owners manage membership. Members and Viewers can
read this page; Support Associates have access to Helpdesk only.

## Roles

| Role | Access |
| - | - |
| Owner | Full access, including workspace settings, billing, and team management. |
| Member | Manage agents, sources, actions, integrations, contacts, campaigns, and Helpdesk; view workspace settings and members. |
| Support Associate | Handle Helpdesk tickets and conversations, and manage personal views; no agent or workspace configuration. |
| Viewer | Read resources and analytics, and test agents in Playground and Compare; no saved configuration changes or ticket handling. |

Only Owners and Members can manage Helpdesk macros and shared views or run
Stripe actions through **Chat as user**. Support Associates can insert existing
macros into replies and notes, but cannot create or change them.
Viewers can read automated tests and their results,
but cannot create, edit, or run those tests.

[Real-time monitoring](https://cntillion.com/docs/api-reference/realtime-monitoring.md) follows these roles
too. A key can monitor conversations only while the person who created it is an
Owner or Member, so replace a key when its creator leaves or changes role.

Role changes and revoked membership take effect on the next server request.
Custom roles and access limited to specific agents are not available yet.

## Invite teammates

1. As an Owner, choose **Invite members**.
2. Enter each email address and choose its role. Use **Add member** for more rows.
3. Choose **Send invitations**.

Invitation emails display the workspace image when one is set. Owners can
[upload or change it in General settings](https://cntillion.com/docs/workspaces/settings.md#add-a-workspace-image)
before sending invitations.

You can send up to 50 invitations at once, within the workspace's member
allowance. Free includes one member, Hobby two, Standard three, and Pro five.
Pending invitations also reserve seats. Review capacity in
[Workspace settings → Plans](https://cntillion.com/docs/workspaces/billing.md).
An address already on the team or with a pending invitation cannot be
invited again through this form. If some invitations fail, the form keeps those
addresses so you can retry them without resending successful invitations.

Invitation links expire after 24 hours. In the invitations list, choose
**Resend invitation** to replace the link, or **Revoke invitation** to withdraw
it. Resending keeps the assigned role and makes the old link invalid.

## Accept an invitation

Open the invitation and sign in or create an account using the invited email
address. Choose **Accept invitation** to enter the workspace. If you already
belong to it, choose **Open workspace**. Invited teammates join without having
to create another agent, even if the workspace has no agents yet.

If no invitation appears, check the signed-in email address. Ask an Owner to
resend an expired or revoked invitation.

## Change a role or remove a member

As an Owner, open the member's actions menu and choose **Change role** or
**Remove member**. Removing someone ends their access to the workspace and its
agents. Your own row offers **Leave workspace**.

The primary owner cannot leave, be removed, or have their role changed until
primary ownership has been transferred.

## Transfer primary ownership

The primary owner opens another Owner's actions menu, chooses **Transfer primary
ownership**, and confirms. If the recipient has another role, make them an
Owner first. The previous primary owner remains an Owner after the transfer.

Only the primary owner can transfer primary ownership or
[delete the workspace](https://cntillion.com/docs/workspaces/settings.md#delete-a-workspace).
