# Centillion on your phone

> Install the app on a phone and get notified when a customer needs a person

There is no separate mobile app to download. The Centillion dashboard, Helpdesk
included, works in your phone's browser, and you can install it on your Home
Screen so it opens like an app. Once installed, it can send you a notification
when a customer needs a person, and tapping the notification opens that
conversation.

## Installing it

* **Android, in Chrome.** Open the dashboard, open Chrome's menu and choose
**Install app** (on some phones, **Add to Home screen**).
* **iPhone and iPad, in Safari.** Open the dashboard, tap **Share**, then **Add
to Home Screen**. Open Centillion from the new icon from then on.
* **Computer, in Chrome or Edge.** Choose the install icon at the end of the
address bar. This is optional; notifications work without it.

## Turning on notifications

Notifications are turned on per person and per device. Turning them on for your
phone does not turn them on for your laptop, and nobody can turn them on for you.

1. On the device you want notified, open your agent and go to **Settings →
   Notifications**.
2. Under **Push notifications on this device**, switch on **Notify me on this
device**, and allow notifications when the browser asks.
3. Choose **Send a test**. A notification should arrive within a few seconds.

To stop them on a device, switch the same setting off there.

## When notifications arrive

What your device can do depends on the platform, not on Centillion.

| Device | When you get notified |
| - | - |
| Android, Chrome | Even when Chrome is closed. |
| Computer, Chrome or Edge | Only while the browser is running, which includes running in the background with no window open. |
| Computer, Firefox or Safari | While the browser is running. |
| iPhone and iPad | Only once Centillion is added to the Home Screen and opened from there, on iOS 16.4 or later. Safari in a normal tab cannot receive notifications. |

A phone in Do Not Disturb or a Focus mode holds notifications back like any
other app's. If a notification would arrive more than an hour late, because the
device was off, it is dropped rather than delivered stale.

## If nothing arrives

* **The switch is greyed out, with a note about blocked notifications.** You
declined the browser's prompt once, and browsers do not ask twice. Allow
notifications for this site in the browser's site settings, then switch the
  setting on again.
* **The switch is greyed out on iPhone.** Centillion is open in Safari rather than
from the Home Screen icon. Install it as described above.
* **The switch is greyed out, with a note about configuration.** Your Centillion
deployment has not had notifications set up yet. Ask whoever runs it.
* **The test says no device received it.** Switch the setting off and on again
  on this device.

If someone else signs in to Centillion on a browser you used, that browser stops
receiving your notifications.
